Greetings everyone!
So, you can put everything I know about period persian dancing in a VERY short email, but at MidEast Feast this August they are requesting/ encouraging Persian dance. I did find *a* video of the Silk Road Ensemble and a clip from Louchia, but that's it! Can somebody help me search this, please?
Many, many thanks!

The instructional videos linked in another post are fairly good for the basics, but they are "classical" and include movement structure that I haven't managed to document in period sources. The Qajar time period (post period) added some interesting movements to the dance - it changed a lot!

I'm not aware of any Period video of reconstructions out there. But then again, I haven't searched recently and things can pop up quickly. This is my area of specialty so I'd be happy to corespond with you off list if you'd like.

Hi! Faizeh here. The Qajar period is indeed the earliest we can document...at least that I am aware of! I utilize many of the instructional videos, as well as my lessons with Dr. Robyn Friend among others, and try to combine the movements with the images we see in the miniatures.

My Laurel, Mistress Jadi is in Meridies! I'm sure you two share information. She and I are planning on a project to break down period Central Asian dance in text form.

I plan to be at MidEast feast! I'm in Caid, and have been wanting to get to this event for YEARS, but it has always conflicted with a modern belly dance commitment. not so this year! I am very excited.

      Yay for encouraging period dance!!!
